NEXOS.Nova

NEXOS.Nova is the in-house 6-axis industrial robot of NEXOS.Group — the new generation of modular industrial robotics. At its core is the torque-controlled drive technology from SensoDrive, which enables precise control of motion and forces directly in the joint. Combined with modern control algorithms, this produces highly dynamic yet smooth motion — even at low speeds and under varying loads.

Core features

Why SensoDrive?

SensoDrive drives are torque-measuring servo drives originating from the DLR environment (German Aerospace Centre). The torque sensor integrated in the joint enables force control with a precision that classic robots with an external force/torque sensor at the flange cannot reach — because force is measured where it originates.

For applications such as sensitive joining, force-controlled deburring, testing tasks with defined contact forces or delicate handling, this is a clear technical step up from standard industrial robots.

Design and execution

• Housing design in development — light, smooth surfaces are the target execution for cleanroom and hygiene applications. Material selection and final shape are currently being finalised.
• Magenta accents on every axis — brand colour of the NEXOS.Robotics business unit.
• Compact square base plate — fast mounting on NEXOS.Cube base plates and standard robot pedestals.

Ecosystem integration

Nova is designed from the outset for integration into the entire NEXOS toolkit:

• Inside the NEXOS.Cube cell — with standardised adapter plate, cable routing and safety integration.
• As end effector on NEXOS.Motion portals — for 7-axis setups with extended workspace.
• With NEXOS.LinDrive as 7th axis — for a linear traversing axis across multiple workstations.
• Digital twin in NEXOS.XR — virtual commissioning, offline programming, path validation without cell downtime.
• Service connection to NEXOS.DSP — real-time diagnostics, maintenance intervals, ticket system.

Typical applications

• Screwdriving and assembly — with servo-controlled nutrunner at the flange, torque-controlled down to fine adjustment.
• Bonding and dispensing — precise path control with constant contact pressure.
• Deburring and surface finishing — force-controlled directly in the joint, without an external F/T sensor.
• Testing and measuring — high-precision, repeatable measurement paths with defined contact forces.
• Machine tending — handling with variable payload (6–50 kg depending on model).

• Sales via NEXOS.Robotics — the specialised business unit for robotics products and integration.
• Rental, leasing and Robotics-as-a-Service models — usage-based models with availability guarantee are available on request, in particular for pilot projects and flexible capacity adjustments.
