The NEXOS.Cube is NEXOS.Group's core building-block system for modular automation. Instead of building every robot cell as a custom construction, it is assembled from a kit of standardized modules — frame, base, doors, safety enclosure, media routing, process modules. Freely combinable, quickly installed, repeatably configured — and productive in weeks instead of quarters.
Variants
NEXOS.Cube Standard
Aluminium construction based on NEXOS.Protec profiles. For classical mechanical engineering, automotive, logistics, and all applications without cleanroom requirements.
NEXOS.Cube Stainless Steel
Fully manufactured in stainless steel (V2A / V4A on request). Smooth surfaces, GMP-compatible seals, cleaning-friendly frame concept. Recommended for Life Science & Pharma, food, and all hygiene-sensitive applications.
Both variants share the same modular logic and the same control and drive building blocks — the difference lies exclusively in material, surface, and regulatory design.
Modular architecture
The new generation of the NEXOS.Cube is consistently built in three parts. Each assembly is independently configurable — allowing heights, functions and process modules to be combined almost freely:
- Lower part — stable base for robots, linear axes, control electronics and process modules. Can be built as pedestal, table or machine stand.
- Middle part — brings the cell to the required working height. Mounting point for doors, part storage, process modules and safety systems.
- Upper part — closes off the structure. Integrates light curtains, protective elements, sensors, media routing and mounting points for feeding and handling modules.
Different heights, widths and functions arise without custom construction. Small robot workstations and large, complex production modules share the same underlying logic.
Sizes and variants
From the kit, cells in many footprints are configurable from stock — from the compact mobile base to the fully equipped machining cell.
Naming scheme: NEXOS.CubeXXYY-ZZZZ, where XX = width in dm (08 → 800 mm, 12 → 1200 mm, 16 → 1600 mm, 24 → 2400 mm), YY = length in dm (12 → 1200 mm, 16 → 1600 mm, 24 → 2400 mm), and ZZZZ = height in mm (500, 1000, 2000) or ES for stainless steel.
Mobile base / rollable pedestal — 500 mm high
For small to medium cobots and industrial robots.

Sizes are couplable — mechanical and electrical interfaces allow combinations of a base cell with controls and additional process/storage cells into a cell park.
Ecosystem — what fits into the cell
Through the integrated T-slots and defined interfaces, the cell cleanly integrates the entire automation ecosystem:
- Robots — Universal Robots, Kassow, RobCo, FANUC CRX, JAKA and our own NEXOS.Nova. Mounting plates and cabling are part of the kit.
- Grippers and end-effectors — SCHUNK, Zimmer, OnRobot, Robotiq for vacuum, mechanical, adaptive. Tool-change systems for multi-tool applications.
- Process modules — welding (power source, hose package, torch, welding table), screwdriving (nutrunner), dispensing, marking, deburring (mills, brushes, grinders).
- Material transport — HERROX.250 for AGV/AMR integration, NEXOS.LinDrive as linear 7th axis, conveyors and roller doors for cell integration.
- Safety technology — SICK laser scanners, Inxpect radar sensors, light curtains, door switches with locking, emergency stop and safety simplifier for integrated protection.
- Operating and display elements — HMIs, signal towers, switches, enable buttons — meaningfully placed and ergonomically operable.
Typical applications
For the most common automation tasks, predefined Cube configurations are available from the kit:
- Palletizing — mobile pedestal + robot from 16 kg + carton gripper + two Euro pallet spaces + radar sensor for access monitoring
- Machine tending — mobile base + robot from 6 kg + parts tray + access monitoring; optionally as cell park with additional part storage
- Welding — closed cell + robot from 6 kg + welding power source + welding table with hole grid (systems 16, 28) + door switch with locking + tinted protective glazing + extraction
- Deburring — closed cell + robot from 6 kg + tool-change gripper + deburring tool + raw/finished part trays
- Screwdriving and part marking — cell + robot + screwdriver or marker + workpiece fixture + inspection station
Why NEXOS.Cube instead of custom machine building
- Repeatable, not one-off — documented configurations replace months of custom engineering. The second installation is a twin of the first, not a new development.
- Fast payback — standard modules from stock, weeks instead of quarters to commissioning.
- Maintainable and expandable — spare parts still available after years, new modules easily retrofittable. No "stranded custom project".
- Vendor-independent — open architecture for robots, grippers, safety technology from various suppliers. No lock-in to a single brand.
- Digital from day one — prepared for digital twin integration with NEXOS.XR and service portal integration with NEXOS.DSP.
