Why mobile surveillance?

Fixed cameras have fixed fields of view — and blind spots. A mobile guard robot complements the stationary camera system with presence on the ground: it drives routes, checks doors and fences up close, reports unusual movements and documents its path. For industrial sites, substations, data centres, construction sites and temporary facilities, this creates a combination of stationary and mobile surveillance that shows presence rather than just observing.

An additional effect is the deterrent effect: a visibly moving guard robot signals active surveillance. For sites that traditionally only use a camera fence or night watchmen, this is a substantial reinforcement.

• PALLAS platform as the base — common on large open areas: PALLAS.300 or PALLAS.800 for endurance and off-road capability.
• Camera dome with wide-angle overview + zoom camera for detail. Optional thermal imaging for night operations.
• AI anomaly detection — on-board or in NEXOS.DSP: detects persons, vehicles, unusual movement patterns.
• Docking station — automatic return for charging. Round-the-clock availability without staff.
• Alarm workflow — alarm → live video to the control room → human assessment → escalation (police, guard service).

Data protection & compliance

Mobile video surveillance outdoors touches data protection. To be clarified before commissioning:

• Legal basis — on private industrial sites typically Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest), significantly stricter for public areas.
• Works council agreement — when deployed by the employer, coordinate with the works council (BetrVG Section 87(1) No. 6).
• Labelling — visible notices about the surveillance.
• Retention periods — short-term buffer instead of continuous recording. Only store permanently on alarm.
• Access roles — only authorised security staff, documented access.
